Her birthplace was Yarrawonga within Victoria, Australia. Her father, James Ernest Curtis Smith got married to Ojales back in 1982. Her youngest sister Jasmine has also become an actor. Clare was a mother-in-law in their father's side. Clare passed away at the age of 4 months old in 2007.
