Scarlett Johansson, American actress (born on the 22nd of November 1985 in New York City New York) is well-known for her ability to act across different genres ranging from period dramas to thrillers to action adventures. Johansson lived in New York City as the daughter an architect and the owner of a production company. She and her twin brother Hunter were the youngest siblings of four. When she reached seven years old, her passion for acting had increased. She started to audition for commercials. She enrolled in the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute shortly after, and later went to the Professional Children's School, Manhattan to continue her training. In the Off-Broadway play Sophistry she worked with Ethan Hawke. She then had her first appearance in a film in North (1994), produced by Rob Reiner, at age nine. Johansson was later seen as a character in Just Cause (1995), however, her breakthrough occurred through Manny & Lo a coming of age movie about two sisters fleeing. The Horse Whisperer (2000) the film in which she played the role of a teenage girl who has a deformity caused by an accident, earned the film critical acclaim. In Ghost World 2001 (as the young, sarcastic teenager Rebecca), Johansson gained the attention of a whole new generation. Like many actresses who are new have done, she decided to further develop her skills in theater. She was involved in various USA productions while making her debut on stage with Wildflower.
